Nora Mikken's first collection is made up mostly of hoodies, plus T-shirts in 3 different lengths.
The names of Nora Mikken's products didn't come from the stars or from market research. They came straight from the heart – from my closest circle of friends. Looking at the designer's sketches, I simply started to imagine: who in my life would wear these? And then the names started coming by themselves.
KADRI
This one was easy. Kadri is my oldest friend – our history goes back to roughly the days when MSN was still a thing. She has gorgeous legs, which is why shorter hoodie dresses are exactly her thing.
KADRI is made to be worn with leggings – the perfect combo in today's fashion, where comfort no longer means committing a fashion crime.
MARI
My own dear sister. Mari once grabbed a Motley Denim hoodie in size 4XL (which, by the way, is not her size at all) and announced: "Listen, there is simply nothing better than an oversized hoodie."
And that's how it happened – MARI got her name. It's a really long hoodie dress, cut a little roomier than usual, but not quite a classic "oversize". Just the kind you can curl up in on the sofa, but also charm the town in when you need to.
AGNES
Agnes sat next to me at school and has since become a brilliant pilot-psychologist – a true woman with two wings!
AGNES is a crop top for those who don't ask the mirror for permission but say: "Watch and learn." Shorter at the front, a little longer at the back, an eye-catching embroidery on the chest and a tape with the NM logo on the back – just like Agnes herself: small details, but completely unforgettable.
ANNELI
Many-layered and one of a kind – just like that neighbour who always has something interesting to say... and from whom you can sometimes borrow salt, sometimes a bit of life wisdom. Since I have two Annelis – one on my right and one on my left – the ANNELI T-shirt has several layers too 😊 There's the Nora Mikken logo tape on the back, and the layered edges at the sleeves and hem come in contrasting colours.
EVELI
Here comes a little wild card. EVELI is the only so-called "mismatch" among the names – but it rhymes very nicely with Anneli, and isn't that enough? 😄
Sometimes you just need that one friend who brings a bit of carnival into the chaos. Eveli doesn't need explaining, Eveli simply is – and honestly, it works.
GELINA
Gelina is the kind of person who always leaves the world a little cleaner and the soul a little calmer. Her quiet presence is like fresh air – or a freshly wiped kitchen table in the sunlight.
The GELINA style comes with three-quarter sleeves – because her sleeves are always rolled up. You know, just in case... for when you feel like getting something done right away.
SIRLI
Sirli is made of fabric scraps. That describes my relationship with Sirli best. We've only met a few times, so a little bit from here and a little bit from there – and together they made a beautiful cut & sew hoodie.
GERTRUD
A fresh breeze from the new generation. GERTRUD is inspired by my friend Dairi's sparkling daughter – a young woman with her own opinions, her own style and the knack of wearing a cropped hoodie exactly the way fashion asks for today: nicely oversized, paired with anything – or nothing at all. GERTRUD is free, playful and confidently self-assured. PS! DAIRI is on its way too... stay tuned.
